[ Cogswell Research ]

John and Elizabeth Cogswell, who immigrated to the American colonies in 1635 aboard the ill-fated ship Angel Gabriel, came from the town of Westbury in Wiltshire, England.  The records of their marriage and the birth of 10 children are found in the parish registers of All Saints Church.

Notes:

1.      The original entry is in the lower right corner of a right-hand page and is darkened from what may have been mildew.

2.      The spelling of Elizabeth’s maiden name is “Thomson”, not “Thompson”, as has been reported elsewhere.  This is consistent with all references to her father, Vicar William Thomson, in the parish registers.
